Tesla to recall over 9,000 Model X SUVs
Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is recalling 9,136 Model X sports utility vehicles to test the roof trim that could separate, increasing the risk of a crash.
“The front and center roof cosmetic trim pieces may be adhered to the vehicle without primer. As a result, one or both pieces of trim may separate from the vehicle,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
Tesla service will test the roof trim adhesion and reattach the trim pieces as necessary, free of charge. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 20V-710 will need to have the new inspection and remedy completed, the company said.
The recall includes all Tesla Model X vehicles from the start of production through July 31, 2016.
Shares of the electric vehicle maker were down 0.4% premarket on Wednesday and 11% year-to-date.
