TikTok’s music service to shut down after two years of struggling operation
- TikTok (BDNCE) will close down its music streaming business on November 28, the company said on its website Tuesday.
- “We will be closing TikTok Music at the end of November in order to focus on our goal of furthering TikTok’s role in driving even greater music listening and value on music streaming services, for the benefit of artists, songwriters, and the industry,” the company’s global head of music business development, Ole Obermann, said in a statement.
- The move comes just two years after launching the service, which aimed at taking on industry giants like Spotify (SPOT) and Apple Music (AAPL).
- “TikTok Music account information and personal data will be automatically deleted following the closure of TikTok Music,” the company said.
