Top weekly S&P 500 consumer discretionary gainers & losers: Tesla takes lead; Chipotle Mexican Grill bottoms

For the week ending September 12, the S&P 500 Consumer Discretionary sector (NYSEARCA:XLY) saw a modest increase of 1.11%. However, this performance trailed the broader S&P 500, which rose by 1.37%. Despite the short-term gain, the sector has had a challenging year. Its 6.37% rise year-to-date is significantly behind the S&P 500’s gain of 11.95%.

DoorDash (NASDAQ:DASH) +4.51% The European Commission approved DoorDash’s planned $3.9 billion takeover of Deliveroo.

Yum! Brands (NYSE:YUM) +3.40% YUM has appointed Ranjith Roy as the new chief financial officer, succeeding Chris Turner, who becomes CEO on October 1. Roy previously served as chief strategy officer and treasurer.
