Transocean to sell two drillships for combined $342M

Transocean (NYSE:RIG) disclosed Tuesday it agreed to sell the Development Driller III and associated assets for $195M and the Discoverer Inspiration and associated assets for $147M, which it says is part of its effort to dispose of non-strategic assets.
The company expects the sale will result in an estimated Q3 non-cash charge of $630M-$645M associated with the impairment of the assets.
Development Driller III is a fifth generation dynamic positioning semi-submersible ultra-deepwater drilling rig capable of drilling in water depths up to 7,500 ft with drilling depth of 35K ft.
