President Trump Tuesday evening said he is opposed to a plan that would reform the Affordable Care Act by extended subsidies that were set to expire at the end of the year.
That idea, which would include new income levels on eligibility and set minimum premium payments, ran afoul of many Republican lawmakers in Washington.
“Somebody said I want to extend them for two years. I don’t want to extend them for two years,” the president said aboard Air Force One, The Hillreported. “I’d rather not extend them at all,” Trump said. “Some kind of extension may be necessary to get something else done, because the un-Affordable Care Act has been a disaster.”
Trump again touted his concept of replacing subsidies with payments to individuals to buy a plan on health insurance exchanges.
