U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday accused major television networks of biased reporting and suggested that their broadcast licenses should be revoked.
Trump berated NBC and ABC as “two of the worst and most biased networks in history,” adding he would support the FCC in revoking licenses to their television stations.
The networks “give me 97% BAD STORIES,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Sunday, “despite a very high popularity and, according to many, among the greatest 8 months in Presidential History.”
In a separate post, Trump claimed that the two networks did not pay “Millions of Dollars a year in LICENSE FEES,” and should “at a minimum, pay up BIG for having the privilege of using the most valuable airwaves anywhere at anytime!!!”
Trump has repeatedly criticized news networks for negative coverage and fought high-profile legal battles over it.
Paramount Global, the parent firm of CBS, earlier this year reached an in-principle agreement to pay $16M to settle President Donald Trump’s lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
ABC News last year agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit over inaccurate on-air assertions by anchor George Stephanopoulos.
