UnitedHealth forms ‘Public Responsibility Committee’ to monitor risks

  • UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) has created a Public Responsibility Committee to “monitor and oversee financial, regulatory, and reputational risks that may affect the company’s operations and mission.”
  • Its main responsibilities are “underwriting and forecasting, regulatory relationships, reputational matters, and mergers and acquisitions,” per an SEC filing.
  • Michele Hooper will serve as chair. As a result, though she will remain a director, she will be replaced by F. William McNabb as lead independent director.
  • UnitedHealth noted that the panel’s creation is “part of the company’s continuing commitment to a mission-driven culture of responsibility, integrity and performance. It will provide an additional layer of governance, including enhanced oversight of pricing, operational, regulatory and reputational risks.”
