Although the Trump Administration gave Nvidia (NVDA) approval to export its H200 chips to China back in December, no orders have been shipped yet, according to Reuters.
“My understanding is that none so far,” Commerce Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement David Peters said at a congressional hearing, according to the report.
“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow NVIDIA to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security,” said U.S. President Donald Trump in a post on Truth Social on Dec. 8, 2025.
After mulling it over, Chinese officials apparently gave the green light for some of the country’s largest tech companies to begin preparing orders for the AI chips. Alibaba (BABA), Tencent (TCEHY)(TCTZF), and ByteDance (BDNCE) were expected to order hundreds of thousands of them.
However, it now appears shipments of the chips have stalled.
