Verizon is reportedly looking to sell thousands of towers in the U.S.
Verizon (NYSE:VZ) is looking to sell thousands of mobile-phone towers in the U.S., Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The New York-based telecom giant is looking to divest a package of roughly 5,000 to 6,000 towers for more than $3 billion, sources told Bloomberg, asking not to be identified.
The report said that the company has hired advisers to look for potential buyers, and the discussions are currently in a preliminary stage and may not materialize.
The 5000–6000 towers that are on the block are expected to draw interest from infrastructure firms and strategic buyers, sources told Bloomberg.
Verizon did not immediately respond to a Seeking Alpha request for a comment.
