Walmart recalls apple juice sold in 25 states over arsenic levels
Walmart (NYSE:WMT) and Refresco Beverages are recalling apple juice sold under the U.S. retail giant’s “Great Value” brand because of elevated levels of arsenic.
The Food and Drug Administration has designated the recall as Class II, which means it may have a lower chance of causing major injuries, but “where there is still the possibility of serious enough adverse events to have irreversible consequences.”
Refresco Beverages voluntarily recalled 9,535 cases of Great Value apple juice sold in 6-pack plastic bottles with 8-ounce sizes, per the notice.
Walmart (WMT) posted a 46-page document listing the stores that sold the affected apple juice on its recall website.
The apple juice was sold in 25 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
