Least shorted S&P 500 stocks in June

Alphabet (GOOG), Walmart (WMT) and Mastercard (MA) took the top spots as the least shorted S&P 500 (SP500) stocks in June.

As of June 28, 0.35% of Alphabet’s Class C (GOOG) shares were sold short. The American tech company witnessed a decline in short share volume during the month, with traders selling 42.85M shares of GOOG short, a decline of 2.6% from mid-June. Class A shares of Alphabet (GOOGL) had short interest of 0.57% last month.

Walmart (WMT) was next, with 0.45% of its shares sold short as of June 28. The retailer saw a decline in short shares volume in the month, at 36.56M compared to the previous total of 40.8M at mid-June.

Mastercard (MA), meanwhile, saw an increase in short shares volume at the end of June, with 0.53% of its shares sold short. As of June 28, there was short interest totaling 4.4M shares, an increase of 8.6% from the previous total of 4.05M shares at mid-June.
