August semiconductor sales rise nearly 21% year-over-year: SIA

Semiconductor sales in August rose nearly 21% year-over-year to surpass $53B, the industry’s leading trade group said on Friday.
Sales hit $53.1B during the month, the Semiconductor Industry Association said, up 20.6% year-over-year and 3.5% month-over-month.
“The global semiconductor market continued to grow substantially in August, hitting its highest-ever sales total for the month of August, and month-to-month sales increased for the fifth consecutive month,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO in a statement. “Year-to-year sales increased by the largest percentage since April 2022, driven by a 43.9% year-to-year sales increase into the Americas, and month-to-month sales were up across all regions for the first time since October 2023.”
The Americas, China, Asia Pacific/Other ad Japan all saw increases, with sales in those regions up 7.5%, 19.2%, 17.1% and 2%, respectively. Conversely, Europe saw a 9% decline.
