Micron announces retirement of long-term board chair
- Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) announced the upcoming retirement of long-term board member and current board chair Bob Switz.
- Switz joined the board of directors in 2006 and has served as chair since 2012. He will officially retire at Micron’s annual shareholders meeting on Jan. 16, 2025.
- The board of directors has already unanimously voted to appoint Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrota to serve as board chair following Switz’ retirement. Lynn Dugle will serve as the lead independent director. Dugle joined the board in 2020.
- “Bob has been an invaluable partner and advisor to Micron for nearly 20 years, and I am deeply grateful to him for his leadership and counsel,” said Mehrotra. “During his tenure, Micron has gained tremendous momentum and is now a recognized leader in the memory and storage industry.”
- “Memory and storage are essential to the growth of AI in the digital economy, and Micron holds the strongest competitive position in its history,” Switz said.
