  • OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar said on Friday that the ChatGPT maker will continue working with Scale AI after Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) invested in the company, Reuters reported.
  • “We don’t want to ice the ecosystem because acquisitions are going to happen,” Friar said at the VivaTech conference in Paris, according to the news outlet. “And if we ice each other out, I think we’re actually going to slow the pace of innovation.”
  • OpenAI is financially backed by Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), among others.
  • After much speculation, Meta confirmed late on Thursday it had invested $14.3B in Scale AI, taking a 49% stake. The investment valued the San Francisco-based company at over $29B.
  • A key aspect of the deal includes Scale CEO Alexandr Wang joining Meta to head its “superintelligence” team focused on artificial general intelligence.
  • Amid rumors of the deal, Seeking Alpha analysts said it could boost Meta’s exposure to artificial intelligence and provide a “positive catalyst” for the Mark Zuckerberg-led company.
