Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) and GlobalFoundries (NASDAQ:GFS) have formed a new partnership to accelerate the use of photonics in AI applications, particularly in augmented reality (AR) and digital experiences. The two companies will establish a state-of-the-art waveguide fabrication facility at GF’s site in Singapore.
Under the pact, Applied Materials will develop the waveguide components, while GF will serve as its high-volume manufacturing partner.
This collaboration enhances Singapore’s photonics ecosystem, supporting various applications and technologies.
