Walmart (NYSE:WMT) is set to become the first brick-and-mortar retailer to sell Lingo, Abbott Laboratories’ (NYSE:ABT) over-the-counter glucose monitoring system, which is available without a prescription, Axios reported on Tuesday.
The big box store is expected to launch the Lingo two-week sensor pack across more than 3,500 physical locations and online at $48.97 per single sensor with access to the Lingo app, currently only available for iPhone users.
Previously, the North Chicago, Illinois-based MedTech giant had made available Lingo through its HelloLingo.com website and Amazon since its market launch in September 2024.
At the time of the launch, Abbott (NYSE:ABT) priced the device at $89 for two sensors, while the rival product, Stelo, from DexCom (DXCM), was sold at $99 for a single pack of two sensors.
Lingo’s availability through Walmart (NYSE:WMT) “is a meaningful step toward expanding access to real-time health insights,” said Olivier Ropars, Abbott’s divisional vice president of Lingo.
