4 stocks to watch on Thursday: GOOG, TD, ARM, WMT

Stock index futures largely hugged the front line on Thursday, as investors assessed a slew of job reports. Here are the four stocks to watch on the day:

Alphabet (GOOG) rose 1.52% in premarket trade after becoming the world’s second-most valuable company, surpassing Apple’s valuation for the first time since 2019. The move cements the Google parent’s place at the forefront of the artificial intelligence race.

TD Bank Group (TD) edged up 0.21% in premarket trading after announcing late Wednesday its intention to start a new normal course issuer bid. The company plans to repurchase for cancellation up to C$7B (US$5B) of its common shares, not to exceed 61M shares.

Arm (ARM) gained 0.28% before the opening bell following news that the British chip architecture designer has reorganized the company. The restructuring includes the creation of a Physical AI unit designed to expand its presence in the robotics market and the establishment of three new business units to replace its former lines of business.

Walmart (WMT) slipped 0.38% in premarket trade after announcing the appointment of Shishir Mehrotra to the company’s board of directors. Mehrotra is currently the CEO of Superhuman, an AI-powered productivity platform, and will serve on the Compensation and Management Development Committee and the Technology and eCommerce Committee.
