Boeing plans 2026 launch of satellite for testing quantum communications
Boeing (NYSE:BA) on Tuesday said it plans to launch in 2026 a satellite built to demonstrate capabilities for what’s known as quantum entanglement swapping in orbit.
The mission is an early step toward creating a secure, global quantum internet that connects quantum sensors and computers, according to Boeing (BA).
Quantum sensors are more precise than current instruments, and quantum computers can process large amounts of data, potentially revolutionizing multiple industries.
The experiment will attempt to show quantum networking in space to better understand how the technology can work across vast distances while remaining synchronized.
