Monday – September 29
- Volatility watch – Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) and IREN (IREN) are set up for a volatile week of trading based on options volume. The most overbought stocks per their 14-day relative strength index include Tourmaline Bio (TRML) and Churchill Capital Corp. X (CCCX). The most oversold stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index include Oxford Square (OXSQ) and Sprouts Farmers (SFM).
- IPO watch – Knorex (KNRX), Neptune Insurance (NP), and Fermi (FRMI) are expected to price their IPOs and begin trading during the week. Fermi has attracted a significant amount of attention due to its plans to build massive power plants to provide electricity to AI data centers. The quiet period expires on Fitness Champs (FCHL) to free up analysts to post ratings. The IPO lockup period expires for blocks of shares of Waton Financial (WTF) and AsiaStrategy (SORA).
- Earnings watch – Notable companies due to report include Carnival (CCL), Jefferies Financial (JEF), and Vail Resorts (MTN).
- All day – Notable investor events include TD Bank Group’s (TD) Investor Day, ArcBest’s (ARCB) Investor Day, and TotalEnergies’ (TTE) Investor Day.
- All day – Sony Group (NYSE:SONY) will spin off its financial services arm, Sony Financial Group, in a major restructuring move. More than 80% of Sony Financial shares will be distributed to Sony shareholders via a dividend-in-kind.
- All day – FedEx (FDX) will hold its annual meeting. Investors will be looking for news of the business split scheduled for next year.
- Federal Reserve watch – It is a busy day of Fedspeak with Federal Reserve Board Governor Christopher Waller, St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank President Alberto Musalem, and New York Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams due to talk.
Tuesday – September 30
- Earnings watch – Notable companies due to report include Nike (NYSE:NKE), Paychex (PAYX), Lamb Weston (LW), and United Natural Foods (UNFI).
- Federal Reserve watch – It is another active day of Fedspeak with Federal Reserve Vice Chair Philip Jefferson, Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Lorie Logan, and Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Austan Goolsbee all due to talk publicly.
- All day – Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) will hold a hardware reveal event. The showcase is expected to spotlight a new wave of Echo smart speakers, Fire TV devices, and Kindle e-readers, all designed to leverage the upgraded Alexa Plus AI assistant.
- 9:00 a.m. Economists have the release of the S&P/Case-Shiller House Price Index circled as a key update for the housing market.
- 1:30 p.m. Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Austan Goolsbee will participate in a moderated question-and-answer session before the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Midwest Agriculture Conference.
Wednesday – October 1
- Earnings watch – Notable companies due to report include Conagra Brands (CAG), and Cal-Maine Foods (CALM).
- Data watch – Key data reports due to arrive during the first few days of the week include updates on deliveries from Tesla (TSLA), Nio (NIO), XPeng (XPEV), Rivian Automotive (RIVN), Li Auto (LI), ZEEKR Intelligent (ZK), Polestar Automotive (PSNY), and Lucid Group (LCID). Quarterly sales reports from General Motors (GM), Ford Motor (F), and Toyota (TM) will also be closely watched. Other reports of high interest to investors will be the monthly Macau gross gaming revenue release, the monthly update on Class 8 truck orders, firearm background check data from the FBI, and discount broker DARTs reports.
- All day – Google (GOOG) (GOOGL) is holding a Gemini event that is expected to unveil the integration of Gemini AI for smart home devices, marking a major upgrade from Google Assistant across Nest Cam, smart speakers, and doorbells. New hardware devices could be announced.
- All day – Golden Week begins in China to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The holiday is especially important to the Macau casino sector, including Wynn Resorts (WYNN), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), MGM Resorts (MGM), and Melco Resorts (MLCO).
Thursday – October 2
- All day – The Federal Reserve will issue its latest balance sheet report.
- 10:00 a.m. The U.S. Factory Orders report will be released by the Census Bureau.
- 10:30 a.m. Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Lorie Logan will participate in a moderated conversation before the UT Evolving Energy and Policy Landscape Conference.
Friday – October 3
- All day – The United Nations will release its latest FAO food price index and monthly grains report, which are watched by commodities traders.
- All day – European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda, and Bank of England Governor Bailey are all scheduled to give talks.
- 8:30 a.m. The September Jobs Report will be released. Economists expect a weak tally of 50K job additions and the unemployment rate to hold steady at 4.3%.
