  • Meta (NASDAQ:META) has seemingly rolled back a restriction that blocked searches for words like “marijuana” and “cannabis” on its social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, Marijuana Moment reported.
  • The Menlo Park, California-based tech giant revised its content moderation policies early this year, ending its third-party fact-checking program and relaxing its restrictions on hot-button topics such as immigration and gender identity.
  • However, the company continued to block marijuana-related search results and instead displayed a warning that encouraged users to report “the sale of drugs.”
  • According to Marijuana Moment, the policy appears to have come to an end, with search responses for content that was blocked early this year being generated without the warning as of Friday.
  • Meta (NASDAQ:META) and Facebook didn’t immediately respond to Seeking Alpha’s requests for comments.
